Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille in a Shootout to Lift French Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now won the prestigious trophy on fourteen different occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain required a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions seemed to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown featuring the French league champions and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger opened the net in the opening stages.

However, the southern French side struck twice in the closing moments to take a surprise advantage. First, the English forward converted from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a crucial leveler in the dying moments to force the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping crucial kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and the young talent all converted successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a convincing penalty victory.

The record champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons.
